OG Owner/Operator
HI! It’s me. My name is Lauren and I’m the creator/owner/operator/curator of Orthopedic’s Garden.
I’m thrilled to be able to offer this website as an extension of my own knowledge base to share the same input to visitors as I would my own family and friends when they’ve come to me for orthopedic advice.
After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Advertising/Sociology, I went to work at a desk job for all of 5 years before I just couldn’t anymore. I went back to school to become a Physical Therapist Assistant and never looked back. I found the perfect job for me!
I have spent more than 10 years working in an outpatient orthopedic setting. I enjoy taking continuing education classes. A few years ago I completed a cohort to become a Certified Orthopedic Physical Therapist Assistant. I have several more weekend course type certifications as well.
For better or worse, I’ve grown up as an athlete and have been in the care of orthopedic providers since the age of 13. I have personally suffered from ailments/injuries including Sever’s Disease, Sacroiliitis, Patellar Tendonitis, Patellar Femoral Syndrome, IT Band Syndrome, Sprained Ankle, Whiplash, Chronic Low Back Pain, TMJ Pain, Medial/Lateral Epicondylitis, Bicep Tendonitis, a SLAP Tear, Knee Plica Syndrome, Hip Sprain/Strain, Plantarfasciitis, Piriformis Syndrome, “Desk Job-itis,” pulled muscles and other tendinitises, not to mention pregnancies and postpartum ailments galore. I think that about covers most main joints. Right? Boo.
So all of that just means that in addition to treating patients, I’ve also SELF-TREATED a lot of ailments. Lucky for me, I have the knowledge and personal investment to understand my ailments and have my go-to’s to help me get through them. If I can’t fix myself, and I’ve exhausted all my resources, that’s normally when I go in to a provider and say, “Hey - I’ve tried all these things. Now what?”
